The Journey of VISIMO
Founded in 2015, VISIMO began its journey by serving small businesses and non-profits, delivering analytics and technology solutions tailored to their unique needs. In 2019, we entered the public sector, and by 2020, we had transitioned to federal work with a groundbreaking collaboration between the Software Engineering Institute and the US Army’s AI Integration Center. This marked the start of our rapid expansion into the federal space.
Since then, VISIMO has partnered with nearly every federal agency, leveraging SBIR/STTR programs to develop cutting-edge proof-of-concept solutions and working prototypes. As an AI engineering think-tank for the public sector, we specialize in creating transformative technologies that drive mission success and operational efficiency.
Our growth has been nothing short of remarkable—within a single year, we evolved from building analytics dashboards for air conditioning companies to enabling unmanned aerial vehicles to fly autonomously beyond the line of sight. Over the years, we have achieved significant milestones, including strategic partnerships, successful project implementations, and obtaining prestigious certifications.

Meet Our Team
James Julius
CEO
Founder and CEO of VISIMO, James brings over 20 years of experience working with businesses ranging from Fortune 100 companies to family-run enterprises. He holds an MBA from Carnegie Mellon University, as well as an MS in IT Project Management and a BS in Information Systems from Robert Morris University. At VISIMO, he leads efforts to develop cutting-edge AI solutions for public and private sectors. James resides near Pittsburgh with his wife and four children.
Alex Heit
VP, Government Markets & Growth
Alex joined VISIMO in 2019, building partnerships with academic, commercial, and government organizations to deliver AI-driven innovation. He holds an MPA from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA from Rhodes College. Alex actively contributes to the tech community, serving in leadership roles with PGH.AI and the Pittsburgh Space Collaborative. Outside of work, he volunteers as a board member for nonprofits including Dress for Success and NeighborWorks Western PA.
Harris Heit
VP, Strategy
Vice President of Strategy at VISIMO since 2020, Harris brings over 15 years of experience advising senior federal and private sector executives. He holds a BA from The George Washington University and a master’s degree from Harvard University. Harris is an Officer in the US Army Reserve and a board member at Sustainable Pittsburgh. He is pursuing a Doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh, focusing on the impact of AI on policy and social change.
Dino Mintas
Chief Data Scientist
Dino joined VISIMO in 2018. He has over 15 years of experience in data science and business intelligence across public and private sectors. Dino holds a BS from the University of Pittsburgh and a JD from Fordham University. He oversees VISIMO’s R&D projects and develops AI/ML solutions to tackle complex challenges. Dino lives in western Pittsburgh.
Catherine Julius
Recruiter
Catherine joined VISIMO after starting her career in financial services and running a wedding consulting startup in Pittsburgh. She earned a BS in Business Administration from Robert Morris University. At VISIMO, Catherine leads recruitment and professional development initiatives. She enjoys volunteering at her children’s school, cooking, and spending time with her family.
Cameron Lewis
Controller
Cameron joined in 2024, bringing extensive experience in financial management and strategic operations. A CPA, he earned a BS in Accounting and Computational Finance with a minor in Mathematics from Saint Vincent College. Cameron previously served as Chief Financial Officer at The Wood Veneer Hub, where he led financial operations, developed agile strategies, and enhanced efficiency through process automation. At VISIMO, he oversees financial systems and supports business growth initiatives. Outside of work, Cameron enjoys spending time with his family, supporting his daughter’s softball games, and contributing as a servant leader.
Gavin Stabbe
Proposal Coordinator
Gavin joined VISIMO in 2022, assisting the Government Markets & Growth team with proposal development. He earned a BA in History from Duquesne University and an MEd in Curriculum and Instruction from George Mason University. Before VISIMO, Gavin taught Social Studies, focusing on English Language Learners. Outside work, he enjoys gardening, museums, and soccer.
Daniel Beresheim
Technical Proposal Writer
Daniel joined the team in 2024 with nearly a decade of experience in communication, writing, and education. He holds a PhD and MA in Communication from the University of Pittsburgh and a BA in Philosophy and Public Address from St. John’s University. Daniel specializes in synthesizing technical concepts into compelling narratives, having mentored students in grant drafting and successfully authored awarded proposals. At VISIMO, he collaborates with subject matter experts to develop strategic and impactful content. Outside of work, Daniel enjoys exploring Squirrel Hill and advancing his expertise in writing and research.
Colton Kiselica
Technical Project Manager
Since joining VISIMO in early-2024, Colton supports AI/ML project engagements for federal and private clients. He earned a BS in Management from the United States Military Academy and served as an Air Defense Officer in various global assignments. Outside work, Colton enjoys scuba diving, travel, and international relations.
James Kim
Technical Project Manager
Project Manager at VISIMO since 2024, James leverages his six years as a U.S. Army officer to drive operational excellence and team leadership. A West Point graduate with a BS in Electrical Engineering, he is pursuing his PMP certification to expand his expertise in project management. Outside of work, James enjoys fitness, mentoring, and exploring emerging technologies.
Samantha Whelpley
Lead Software Developer
Software Developer at VISIMO since 2021, Sam specializes in React and UI/UX design. She holds a BS in Information Science from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a coding bootcamp in Cape Town, South Africa. In her free time, she enjoys traveling and reading.
Coltin Kunz
Software Developer
Software Developer at VISIMO, Coltin joined as an intern in 2020 and became a full-time team member in 2021. He earned a BS in Information Sciences and Technology from Penn State and has a strong interest in AI/ML and emerging technologies.
Kenny Nhim
Software Developer
Kenny joined VISIMO in 2023 as a Software Developer. He holds a BS in Computer Science from Penn State and has experience with embedded systems and web applications. Outside work, Kenny enjoys traveling and exploring the outdoors.
Matthew Flancer
Software Developer
Software Developer since 2021, Matt earned a BS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He is interested in AI/ML, sports analytics, and software development. Outside work, he enjoys soccer, video games, and watching sports.
Brett Zakowski
Software Developer
Brett joined VISIMO in 2022 as a Software Development Apprentice. A self-taught programmer, he focuses on game development and 3D modeling, including his platformer game, Project Mach 3D.
Chris Markulin
DevOps Engineer
hris joined VISIMO in 2022 as a DevOps Engineer. He holds a BS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh and is Kubernetes-certified with expertise in Terraform. In his free time, Chris enjoys playing guitar and video games.
Alexander Moskowitz
Principal Research Scientist
Lead Data Scientist since 2021, Alex earned his Ph.D. in Physics from Carnegie Mellon University and a B.Sc. in Astrophysics from Brown University. His expertise spans machine learning, data science, and astrophysics. In his free time, Alex presents planetarium shows and hosts public telescope events.
Joshua Martin
Data Scientist
Data Scientist at VISIMO since 2021, Josh holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Pittsburgh. He specializes in predictive modeling and is passionate about the intersection of data science and medicine. Outside work, he enjoys hiking with his dog Aurora.

Data Scientist since 2022, Tyler earned a BS in Computer Science from Penn State. He focuses on creating innovative data science solutions while expanding his expertise. In his free time, Tyler enjoys music production, gaming, and staying active.
